Glenwood Cross Country had its first meet of the season Saturday. A hot, humid morning in Glenwood saw the Lady Rams take first place in the girls division, while the Glenwood boys finished third as a team.

Glenwood senior Janette Schraft torched the field, taking first place in the varsity girls race with a time of 18:57, beating second place Taylor McCreedy of Atlantic by over 40 seconds. The sister duo of Aubrey and Abby McIntyre took fourth and fifth place, respectively. The Lady Rams finished with a total of 40 points, edging out Harlan by a single point to be crowned champions.

In the boys race, Glenwood was led by junior Sam McIntyre, who crossed the line in seventh place, followed closely by senior Parson Covington, who took eighth. Senior Mason Parks and junior Tyler Huey were two more Glenwood runners that ran in a pair, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively.

The team trophy in the varsity boys race was earned by CB Thomas Jefferson. The Yellow Jackets took the top three spots in the race, with Aidan Bootan coming in first, Wimach Gilo second and Juan Martinez third.

The Ram boys travel to Pella Saturday, September 1 to compete in the Pella Invitational, while the girls will run at the CB Abraham Lincoln Invite.
