Scarborough Shines as Glenwood Sweeps Clarinda

Glenwood traveled to Clarinda for a girl/boy basketball doubleheader last night. The Glenwood girls won 51-34 and the boys won 79-28.

 

Four balanced quarters gave the girls a good road victory last night. Glenwood had a great first quarter which helped them go into the second quarter with a 16-6 lead. The Rams would also win the second quarter 12-8 to take a halftime lead on the Cardinals 28-14. Clarinda would have their best quarter in the third scoring fifteen points to Glenwood’s ten. Heading into the fourth quarter, Glenwood had the lead 38-29 over Clarinda. The Rams would play great defense in the fourth by holding the Cardinals to only five points to win by 17. Freshman Elle Scarborough dominated for Glenwood by scoring 24 points and was awarded the player of the game. The Rams improved their record to 5-11 on the season and will host the 15-0 Lewis Central Titans on Friday.

The boys are now 14-1 on the season after defeating Clarinda 79-28 on the road. Glenwood scored twenty-five first quarter points to lead the Cardinals 25-14. The Rams would scored twenty-two and twenty-one points in the second and third to put them up 68-28 heading into the fourth. Glenwood’s defense continued their dominance by shutting out the Cardinals in the fourth as the Rams would score eleven in the quarter to win by 51. Coach Schulte said his team had “a great defensive performance with good balanced scoring” on the offensive end. Next up for the Rams will be the sixth ranked school in Class B, Omaha Skutt.
