Glenwood girls and boys tennis are combined 14-0 on the season after both teams defeated Lewis Central on Friday. The girls defeated the Titans 8-1 while the boys won on the road 9-0. After fourteen matches combined what these two teams are doing is very impressive. Below is a in depth look on how each team has performed this season.
Boys Tennis Wins: 9-0, 5-4, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0
Girls Tennis Wins: 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, 8-1, 6-3, 9-0, 8-1
Boys Tennis Individual Matches: 59-4
Girls Tennis Individual Matches: 58-5
Both these teams are one week away from the Hawkeye Ten Conference Tournament. The conference tournament is different than the regular season. Regular season play consists of teams playing head-to-head duals with six singles matches and three doubles matches. The first team to get five wins (technically) is the winner yet all nine matches are played out. At the conference tournament, teams split up their six varsity players into four separate divisions (#1 Singles, #2 Singles, #1 Doubles and #2 Doubles). Each individual varsity player can only play in one division. Each round the individual and team gains points by winning. At the end of the day the team that has the most individual wins in the four separate divisions will be the winner.
