November has arrived and that means basketball season is starting. This year Glenwood is set to make a push for the state tournament so I thought it would be fun to take a in-depth look at some teams to watch out for.

First off let us rewind to last season and take a look at the teams in the Iowa Basketball State Tournament. The teams that qualified in Class 3A were the following: Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Pella, West Delaware, Dallas Center-Grimes, CR-Xavier, Mount Pleasant, Waverly-Shell Rock and Atlantic.

Last night Glenwood Senior Nate Mohr verbally committed to play basketball for Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. The Wildcats are currently an NCAA Division II program that plays in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The Senior guard wanted to verbally commit so he could concentrate on his Senior season. Mohr and the rest of the Rams will look to make some noise this season not only in the Hawkeye Ten but in the entire state as well.

Every team in the state of Iowa strives to make a postseason appearance. However, only 16 teams are selected to compete for a state title at the end of the season. For the third year in a row, the Glenwood Rams (8-1, 6-1) earned a playoff bid after securing the runner-up spot in Class 3A District 7. Having won five straight games in blowout fashion, Glenwood’s momentum is at a season high as they prepare for a first-round showdown with fourth-ranked Sergeant Bluff-Luton (9-0, 7-0) Friday night.

Rams Rout ADM to Close Out Regular Season

The Glenwood Rams (8-1, 6-1) finished off the season with a 42-20 blowout of the ADM Tigers (1-8, 0-7) on senior night. Glenwood played classic Ram football, pounding the ball on the ground and bashing the Tigers for 384 total rushing yards.

This win marks Glenwood’s fifth blowout victory in a row to close out the regular season, giving them all the momentum in the world headed into the playoffs. Head Coach Cory Faust was happy with his team’s performance, but stressed that there were things on which the Rams can improve.
