8th Grade Basketball Close Out Season vs. Clarinda

Kevin Tucker's picture

Coach Berke's Recap- The 8th grade boys basketball team closed out their season last night with a trip down South to take on the Cardinals from Clarinda.  Leading at half by one point, the Rams thought felt they had control of the game.  Clarinda had a different plan, as they came out hot, scoring 29 points in the second half and pestering Glenwood with a half court trap.  Glenwood couldn’t answer, and ended up losing the contest 42-25, ending the 2017 season with a 5-8 record.

Coach Berke's Recap vs. Red Oak

The 8th grade boys dropped to 5-6 last night with their second loss of the season to the Red Oak Tigers.  Final score of the game was 39-27.

The Rams played great defense the entire game, keeping the game within reach for most of the contest.  Some unfortunate turnovers and missed opportunities forced Glenwood to have to foul late in the 4th quarter.  The Tigers managed to convert on many of those free throw opportunities and get some costly offensive rebounds, causing Red Oak to pull away late and snag a 12-point victory.

Christian Stanislav was awarded the Player of the Game as he lead the Rams in scoring with seventeen points. Senior forward Andrew Blum also has a stellar performance by once again recording a double/double on the night.

Christian Stanislav and Nate Mohr both scored seventeen points a piece for Glenwood.

8th Grade Rams Picked Up Fifth Win Against Creston

Coach Berke's Recap: The 8th grade boys basketball team took their 4-5 record on the road to Creston last evening to take on the Panthers in a game that was slow to get going.  The Rams were plagued in the first quarter with turnovers, missed shots, and lackluster defense.  Fortunately, the same was true for Creston as the first quarter saw only 6 points scored in total for both teams, and by halftime the score was a fairly unimpressive 11-6 in favor of the Rams.

In front of a great atmosphere in Glenwood, the Rams defeated Lewis Central 70-50. Senior Nate Mohr picked up two early fouls in the first quarter but the Rams didn’t slow down. Junior Christian Stanislav and Senior Andrew Blum took over the first half for the Rams. Blum and Stanislav had twenty-four of the twenty-nine first half points for Glenwood. 29-20 Glenwood lead Lewis Central at halftime thanks to great defense and effort by all the Rams.
