Blum Leads Comeback as Rams Defeat Jackets in Thriller

Nick Stavas's picture

The Glenwood Rams walked away from Gale Wickersham Stadium tattered, worn out, but victorious nonetheless. After a shaky start, and a 14-0 deficit at halftime, the Rams decided they had had enough of the Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jackets. With the help of a few Jacket miscues, the Rams hung 24 unanswered points in the second half and avoided the upset with a 24-14 victory over TJ to remain undefeated on the season.

Class 3A District 7 Rundown: Week Two

Nick Stavas's picture

After some exciting, and some not-so-exciting week one action, we are ready for round two of Iowa High School Football. While it may not be an overly exhilarating lineup of games, there will still be some things to watch in the final week of non-district play. So here you go, the week two District 7 rundown:

Lynx No Match for Rams in Season Opener

The Glenwood Rams opened the 2017 season with a 45-0 home victory over the Abraham Lincoln Lynx on Friday night. Led by a stifling defense and a great run game, the Rams crushed any hope of a Lynx win from the very first snap.

Glenwood started off the game with a stop deep inside AL territory. A 40 yard punt return by sophomore Zach Carr gave the Rams great field position, and they were able to capitalize with a two yard touchdown run from junior Cooper Silvius.

Week One Scores Around the District

Folks, a brand new football season is finally upon us. After a grueling wait we are just one day away from watching high school teams all over the state take the field to make their 2017 debut. New this year on GlenwoodSports.com will be a series of articles posted every Thursday, consisting of a brief preview of every match up around the district, as well as predictions from Kevin and I. A running tally will be kept throughout the season, and the winner will receive… well, we haven’t got that far (probably just bragging rights).

Back in (All) Black: 2017 Glenwood Football Preview

Nick Stavas's picture

Just over 10 months ago the Glenwood Rams paraded around the town following a line of Chevrolet Corvettes and a police escort before rolling up to the UNI Dome for a state semi final game against the Webster City Warriors. After losing that game in a 6-3 heartbreaker, the Rams wanted nothing but to return to the same place a year later. Now, they are less than two weeks away from taking the field and starting the 11-week journey back to the Dome.
