Girls Basketball Regional Pairings/ Boys SubState Regions

This afternoon it was announced that Glenwood Girls Basketball will play Sergeant Bluff-Luton in Class 4A Region 1. The game will be played at Sergeant Bluff on Wednesday 2/15/17 at 7:00 pm. The winner of that game will advance to the second round and play Lewis Central in Council Bluffs on the 18th.

 

Glenwood Boys Basketball have been placed in the Class 3A SubState #8 region. The teams in that region are the following:

Atlantic

Carroll

Creston

Denison

Glenwood

Harlan

Winterset

Cardinals Will Give Lady Rams Opportunity to Show Improvement

Tomorrow night Glenwood will host Clarinda for a match up where both teams are 1-7 in the conference. Clarinda will come to town with a record of 3-11. Like Glenwood, the Cardinals are a young team. The top three scorers for Clarinda are Juniors and a Sophomore. Back on January third the Cardinals defeated the Lady Rams by one point. Sophomore Aliyah St. Romain as the leading scorer for Clarinda. St. Romain scored sixteen of the forty eight points. Sophomore Taylor Wedemeyer and Junior Maddie Hartley also played well for the Cardinals.

Lady Rams Fall to the Tigers

Tonight the girls basketball team lost to Red Oak 33-57 at home. The Tigers got off to a 14-6 lead on Glenwood and played consistent the entire game. Lewis was the leading scorer for Glenwood with 7 points.

Lady Rams Defeat the Trojans Behind Schuppan's 20

Tonight the girls played consistent throughout the game and the Rams defeated Atlantic 51-37 at home. Glenwood led Atlantic at halftime 24-22 and finished with 13 and 14 point quarters to defeat the Trojans. Nikki Schuppan played a great game and was the leading scorer for Glenwood with 20 points. Daniel Hardcastle finished the game with 10.

"Nice team effort, highest assist total of the season. The team is making progress and starting to understand roles and system. " Coach Bowen

Girls Basketball Picks Up Huge Road Win at Atlantic

Tonight the girls basketball team traveled to Atlantic and took on the Trojans. Glenwood played their best game of the season and picked up the win over Atlantic 55-44. "Felt good to get a win. The girls played hard, great team effort with balanced scoring. We kept our composure down the line and took care of the ball." Coach Bowen

Baylee Baker led the Rams in scoring with 14 points. Congrats to Coach Bowen and the girls on their first win of the season! Keep it up girls!

Rams Run into a Tough Lewis Central Team

Yesterday the #4 ranked team in the state came to town and defeated the Rams 64-30. The girls played tough against the experienced Titans. Hardcastle was the leading scorer for the Rams. Next up for the girls will be on the road at St. Albert.

4th Ranked Titans in Town to Take on the Rams

Tonight the #4th ranked team in state Lewis Central is coming to town. Lewis Central is 3-0 on the season. The Titans are led by Meagan Holt. Holt is averaging 19.3 points per game while shooting 55.2% from the floor. She is also a great rebounder averaging 7 rebounds per contest. Megan Witte, Natalie Rigatuso, Whitney Wilson, and Madison Paulsen all average between 8-12 points for the Titans. This is a great team and will give the Rams a great test. Glenwood is coming off a close loss to the Creston Panthers.

Lady Rams Fall in a Close Game on the Road

Tonight the girls basketball team traveled to Creston and took on the Panthers. The girls fought hard but lost 55-46.  Coach Bowen said, " We played pretty well for about 28 minutes. Danielle and Brooklyn fouled out and we weren't able to stay aggressive down the stretch. Creston capitalized and was able to force a couple of turnovers that allowed them to take over down the stretch. " 

Next up for the Rams will be Lewis Central on Tuesday. Go Rams!
